differences between cg5 mount and a gp mount

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Hi,
CG5 is the celestron version(or clone) of Vixen GP mount. The main difference is the quality and the mechanical performance of the mount. Also, the new CG5 come with a tripod that have 2" leg.

Anyway, the Vixen GP mount is better in mechanical performance and better consistency in quality. But the CG5 is much cheaper than the Vixen GP mount.

Hope the information is useful.

The price of a Vixen GP mount = Celestron CG5 Computerised mount (meaning with Goto function).

Just a thought.

It would be better if have made your Subject Title a little more complete; i.e. "differences between cg5 mount and a gp mount" rather than 'differences'.

It helps if we don't have the time to view every mail.

(Please refer to Posting Eqi by the moderator)
Use clear intuitive subject headings n your email. For example, instead of using 'Help!' or 'SOS', use 'Help required with collimation'.

Hi all

I have changed the subject heading from 'Differences' to 'Differences between cg5 mount and a gp mount' as suggested by Lee.

Yes, it would indeed help everybody if all new threads are posted in the correct forums with a descriptive subject heading. Please read the forum rules and posting etiquette section if you have not already done so. Thanks!

cheers
