Enthusiasm or addiction?

Post by rcj »

Was pondering whether this should be posted in the "Coffee Corner" section or here ("General Astronomy"), but to a major extent it is purely "astronomy" mixed with human'e' temptations...

every month it happens...and it sticks with you for a couple of days...it is so easy, u surf around, and the possibility of clicking a few "Add to Cart" and "Submit", or even "Make Payment" buttons, and there you are. For a start you are filled with euphorism, and possibly on cloud nine for the rest of the day. But as days go past, you ask yourself what made you make the purchase, for pure logical reason, or for the sake of wanting something new, or worse, just to fill the dry cabinet(s) at home.

again, the period has come, almost did something, but withholding back. did it again last month, got an Ethos. for whatever reason? nothing. need one. no. does that make you happy? yes. till now? yes, surprisingly.

will it happen again? cannot guarantee, but will try. argh!

Help! Is there a doctor for this? what am I down with?

wondering...

Actually, it is human nature... not just for astro... ask any girl about new shoes... or handbags... or dress...

I actually buy more books and course materials than astro equipment... my expenditure for learning materials is usually US$1k per month, but last month I went trigger-happy and spent more than US$3k (just because US$ looks so cheap!).

I have to stop... really... but that's what I told myself last year... and the year before that... *Sigh*

Well maybe you ought to keep track of the items in the dry cabinet. If they are not in used for >1 year, it is time to sell.. or at least that is what I do if I can sell them.

Hmm..which Ethos? 13 or 8 or both? :)

Unfortunately I can safely assure you it doesn't go away! Even after laying for dormant for 13 years, simply staring up at the sky seems to trigger a need to get started with this hobby for real this time!

Just bought a scope..... HA!.
