CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Hi,
Inspire by boothee excellent star trails photo, I also attempt a star trails photo “the digital way” from my home kitchen in Tampines yesterday night…too lazy to go out… ha ha ha Shooting Info
Camera: Canon 450D + EF 50mm F1.8 @ F5.0
Exposure: 60 x 60s with 10s interval @ ISO 100
All images shoot in RAW and calibrated.
Result was not that good as the sky I point at don’t have many bright stars, so have to process the image to brighten up those dim stars to make it look more like a star trails, but also brighten up the light pollution and clouds ;p. Also 10s interval gaps was too long for a 50mm lens on a 1.6 crop DSLR… should go outdoor and use a wide angle lens instead. Hope I’ll remember this next time I shoot star trails again... ha ha ha
Have a nice day.

No la.... That's was caused by the fast passing clouds. I think it's appeared greenish because the white balance was off during the image calibration process. I didn't adjust the white balance back as those dim star trails look more obvious this way (my Photoshop skills was not that good yet).
Have a nice day.

haha..so that's what you meant when you said you were doing star trails.
Good one.
BTW, it we can see the Aurora Borealis here, the Earth is in trouble and you need to put on SPF10,000 suntan lotion on your entire body!
