CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Post by Barry »

G'day again,

Located in the constellation Sagittarius, the Trifid nebula is a beautiful combination of reflection nebula (blue) and emission nebula (red).

This picture is comprised of 18 x 15 minute exposures, totaling 4.5 hours. It was captured on Sunday night 17th May 09 up until the last quarter moon came up and drowned out the sky.

Imaging telescope: Skywatcher Black Diamond ED120mm APO
Imaging camera: Orion Starshoot Pro, cooled CCD
Guide telescope: Skywatcher Pro Series ED80mm APO
Guide camera: Orion Starshoot Autoguider

Capture software: MaxIM DL Esentials
Processing: Photoshop Elements 6 & Noels Actions.

Blessings,

Barry.
