Artificial light pollution is the single biggest killer of astrophotography after the moon and clouds.

We get quite a bit of light pollution in Singapore. Galaxy shots like the one posted above might be possible in the outskirts of Malaysia. I have seen a night sky similar to this in Kulai, Malaysia about 1.5hr drive from Singapore.

i was in penang a few weeks ago and its pretty dark there! (batu ferenggi). would've been perfect if it wasn't clouded out..
i'm kinda hoping batam is similar.. (and much cheaper/nearer!)
