Hi all,
Wondering how to transport your refractor around?
well, I came across these "kids golf sets" selling for around $100+.
The golf clubs you can give to your kids but the bag is well padded for a refractor.
For a cheaper solution, Why Pay More are selling this yoga mats complete with bag for $29.90. You buy the bag, cut a section of the mat and roll it around the refractor, place it in the sling bag and walla...a convenient way to bring your scope around! the rest of the mat, you can use it to practice your IPPT sit ups!
Then at World Of sports, they are selling a golf bag for $49.90 complete with shoulder sling and a compartment where you can place your diagonal, finder and eyepieces. There's this irritating hard loop , presumably for the golf clubs at the top but I guess this can be circumvented by cutting away....

I have bought one Golf Sunday Bag in Takashimaya today.. it is offering until 16th May.. it can fit in my 93mm long tube refractor.. is onli $17.70..
FOR those who wanna transport their long refractor, this is a good catch.. is quite a hard casing because there is a layer of plastic inside it..

You bought it WITHOUT the golf clubs? mmm...but then again, its 1m long..too long for my 600mm long refractor. problem with golf bags is they are just too long for most compact refractors...except those long focal length types like the celestron firstscope or yours...IceAngel wrote:I have bought one Golf Sunday Bag in Takashimaya today.. it is offering until 16th May.. it can fit in my 93mm long tube refractor.. is onli $17.70..

hi mooey..MooEy wrote:buy any bag or case that fits, i'm trying to find a luggage bag that fits, my stupid dew cap giving me trouble when i try to fit into one of those.
for the foam, save ur money, go sls, ask around for foam from those mobo box.

I know many bags will do but ideally, the bag should be long and have a shoulder strap. else portability would be an issue.
agree about the dew shield. they should provide a lens cover for when the dew shield is removed. which leads me the the next question: does anyone know if people sell the cover for an 80mm refractor?
as for foam, I think mobo box have bubble wrap...not foam...

Take a look at Giant.. They sell Dunlop backpack (with wheels, and telescopic pull handle) for $19.90.
I bought one in Giant IMM.
I put in some sponge sheets around inside the backpack and it fits my Stellarvue Nighthawk, with the William Optics 2" Diagonal in the focuser.
the bag is big enough to place my manfrotto Gear head 410, which is wrapped around using one the sponge bag bought from the Japanese $2 shop in IMM. Eyepieces are place inside the bag too, in a tupperware box. Will try to get some photos when i manage to borrow a camera.

Interesting suggestion but my aim was to get the scope stored nicely in a as-small-as-possible package. Maybe a simple padded sling bag. The tripod can then be carried over the shoulder. the bags with wheels and back packs would defeat the idea of simple get-up-and-go scope....sojourn88 wrote:Take a look at Giant..
