hi everybody pls help. newbie to telescope.
hi u all can read in my scope review about the galileoscope and im very impress by it as a beginner. next, comes the celestron firstscope. the first scope i can say overall is a toy... after much observation. first, when i observe jupiter, its dim compare to the galileoscope, so i thought it was out of collimation, so after 2 days, i bought to joo beng(astrobargain) and really it is way out of collimation. the thing is i did not knock onto something since i bought the scope. so i pity a no knowledge dad who bought for his kid sure dissapointment. second, the primary mirror should have additional scews at the back for collimation purpose but it dint have so have to collimate from the side screw which JB said was a bit hard but he manage to do it. Third, this scope says it can see jupiter and its moon and saturn rings.. yes it really can but its still very small even at 75 x mag(after collimating the scope) compare to the galileoscope. small until u question is that saturn or not. i have read that a short focal ratio is good for viewing deep sky object as it has a wide field of view? firstscope focal ratio is f4 which i think is good for deep faint objects, but even for the firstscope with only 76mm its hard to see anything.. so correct me if im wrong for those who owns a celestron firstscope for this just my beginning experience only. i can say this scope is good for viewing the moon only, for kids.
Hi,
I'm also a beginner, can read my posts regarding my current journet in getting a scope(s). From what I read it sure would be a disappointment, coupled with the time/location-transport issues/LP issues it really isn't easy. That's why I am jumping straight into the big scopes but then the costs add up.
For me at least I have a pretty decent location to ob, without needing to go out of the building, cross roads, take the car out (to-and-fro 2hrs easily) etc. With our hectic work+family schedule, where got time. And if you finally got time the weather doesn't cooperate.
Not easy hobby huh....
