Canon 60D modified First Light

Post by mymoon »

The sky was clear last night at Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Took the opportunity to try the modified Canon 60D. The Canon 60D IR Filter has been replaced with Astrodon UV/IR block filter.

Here is a single frame shot of the Triffid and Lagoon nebula at ISO 800 using the Pentax SDUF2 telescope

no in camera noise reduction for this 150sec image.

Encouraged by the results continue with 10X150sec lights and 5 darks.

Tried post processing with the free DeepSkyStacker 3.2.2. Unfortunately failed. Apparently only the later Beta versions supports the 60D.

Has anyone got this Beta version or know of any other softwares that can process 60D raws.

Nice. Thanks for sharing! How long did the skies remain clear?

Nice picture there. Have you tried ISO1600 and noticed any obvious noise patterns or detail and colour washout?
Clear skies,

Thanks and thanks for the links. Will be going there again soon and hope to capture more photons and will certainly try at lower and higher ISO.

Good effort! I would prefer you take the levels down a little though to make the dark parts stand out more....but that's my preference only. [smilie=cute.gif]
