Thanks for the tinker. I am more into Android these days.
Google Sky Map is not that good though...yet!
But how does this compare with Pocket Universe? I bought that app and its pretty good. Similar to Pocket Universe 2000 on my pocketpc except it has support for motion sensor/gps.

I got my cable last night. Tried out the SkyWire with my CGEM. Anybody want to buy a SkyWire? my wife is castigating me for saving the US$60 and buying the SkyWire, she wants the SkyFi.
Telescope control via the iPad is really cool. There's something about that touch screen that you don't get on a PC.
That said, I am mostly a desktop planetarium user. I've used Starry Night (3, 4.5), Stellarium, Cartes du Ciel, and KStars (Linux-only). I hate to say this but Starry Night is just too darn complicated. I loved 3.0!
My second choice would be KStars. CDC.. I just don't like the interface.
SkySafari brings back the feeling of that old Starry Night 3.0 that I used to love.
The only thing missing (something missing in all the software I've tried -- although I think MegaStar 5 has it) is an observation planner. Something like "show me all the objects that are at least 20* above the horizon tonight, and which are at least mag 7" -- that kind of thing.
