"The importance of a telescope is not how big it is, how well made it is.
It is how many people, less fortunate than you, got to look through it."
-- John Dobson.
in my experience the accelerometer in iPhones and Android phones simply lack the resolution to be a serious DSC.
the 3-axis digital compass/accelerometer chip (Asahi Kasei AK8973) used in these boxes only has 8 bits of resolution so it can't even give you 1 degree of azimuth accuracy.
not to be a party pooper but just pointing that out..
Parts:
1. obtain phone mount from DSL Development. Depending on how far you want to go, you can either get just the mount of a barewire 12v supply.
This is for Milestone 2.
2. depending on what you are mounting the whole thing to. My clamp mount for the ST80 has a 1/4" threaded hole.
So I use a RAM mount system
1. UNPKD. RAM 9/16" BALL W/ 1/4"-20 STUD
