hi all, anyone of u guys know where i can get a carry bag for my CG5-GT mount?
or maybe u guys have a better idea of how to carry it around?
feel free to offer your advice
anyone knows where to get a carrybag for mount?
Hiye Shoelevy,
You've bought a Celestron advanced series scope?
I'm like you have gotta big problem in carrying the heavy CG5-GT.
I don't have a bag to carry it around coz none seems long enuff except for golf bags or the official carry bag.
What I did was to take any long bag strap and go around the legs a few times and there you have, a carry strap...
or alternatively you can make something like the SAF belt where there's a clip. Ideally, you can purchase a heavier duty clip and in a similar manner, go around the legs a few times..
Maybe we can share pointers about our scope. I'm still trying my best to use the scope the C8-SGT.. coz kinda complicated... and to add salt to the wound, cloudy skies.. *sigh*
Enjoy and Cheer!

Hi shoelevy,
I hav seen ur setup. U use two huge cases for both scope and mount, it is very inconvenient and cumbersome. These are some ideas I thought of 2 make ur setup more man-portable, thus allowing u to take it to more ulu places.
1) u can take those bag packs people carry on their back when they go overseas, use the smaller ones, with sling, n line interior with soft sponges. Slide sling it on u.
2) For ur mount use a guitar bag, it should be big n strong enough to hold the counterweights too. Back sling it.
3) for the acessories etc. eyepieces, barlow, filters, flashlight, maps(foldable).
a) A Sect comm bag should small n nice 2 put all of them in just line it with sponge to stop the knocking about.
b) A Plt comm bag( those that clip to their rite thigh to contain maps, range card, markers) is also a good alternative.
c) last of all, I have seen m203 bandoleer and MG feedbox sold at beach road before. The idea may be too radical, but bandoleer is good as each slot can hold one EP and the feedbox is a super sturdy case good for carry eps.
Lastly, a portable setup will encourage u to observe more and to reduce dust collected. The true potential of ur scope then can be fully brought out. Happy star gazing.

eh
thanks for all your advices.
tommyong, you know i did go to ruby photo and cathay photo at either peninsula hotel or plaza(i can't remember which one) and ruby photo did sell a bag,$65 long enough for the cg5 mount. cathay also sold one $120 which looked more rigid and with an additional side pocket which i think would be good for the counter weight but i'm not sure if that one is long enough. it seemed juUuuuUst right.
i think both are excellent choices and i might be going for the ruby photo one.
by the way, if you've served your ns you might want to give the duffle bag a try. see if it fits the mount
hahaha
