CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Here's a project consisting of two images captured of the optical components of the Cygnus Loop - centered around the Veil Nebula Complex, a faint supernova remnant about 1500LY distant currently. The first image is a wide field version showing the Complex in its entirety taken with a 180mm camera lens coupled onto the ST8300M CCD camera (from the Mersing trip two weeks ago). The second image is the popular Eastern Veil Nebula up-close (NGC6992), taken with the Epsilon astrograph, re-processed again (from the May Mersing trip). Both images are total 45min each in RGB exposures.
Not too sure about the region of lesser stars on the first image....is it below the western Veil area? Looks OK from my monitor.
But yes, you are right on the inverted image....but it's more of the data capture process than the telescope. Always forget to "flip" to back....
