DSO with inexpensive Samsung security camera
Re: Planetary Nebula with inexpensive Samsung security camer
This cam i bought it on line, has not remove the IR-Cut filter but is still very sensitive, i did some 10 mag objects, although not very nice, but it worked, post it here, hope people wont faint, (cos i used paint brush tools to remove noise) The object is ngc 4565 (not 4562) , shooting them at dark nights alone at Changi Seaside was quite an experience ...

You will get a much better performance from the SCB2K if you remove the IR-Cut filter. Can be done in 10 mins. The other thing that you can do is to use a stacking software (I use Registax) to stack the align frames in the video.
Let me know through PM if you are interested to remove the filter. I will send you a step-by-step instructions for removing the IR filter.

Re: Planetary Nebula with inexpensive Samsung security camer
Hi Peter,
I was not convinced that your problems were caused by high AGC setting. Did some investigation by imaging with Hi AGC setting. The results are pretty ok. Attached are M8 (Lagoon) and M16 (Eagle) with x512 integration and Hi AGC setting. I was especially happy to get the Eagle. So, my guess on resolving your problem is you would need to remove the IR-Cut filter and resolve the LP challenge.

And here are the Butterfly Cluster M6 and Swan Nebula M17. I would need to experiment with different white balance setting and post processing to get more accurate colours.
