Hi guys. i would like to know whats the differences between GP mount n GP-DX mount and GPD. What the use of the half pillar? thanks alot.

GP mount is rated to take up to 7kg of load. GP-DX and GPD are the same... it is rated to take up to 10kg of load. Also, GP weight around 4kg without counter-weight and GP-DX weight 8.5kg without counter-weight.

The original tripod of GP/GP-DX mount and some other EQ mount have the north pad on top of one of the tripod leg. This is OK for countries such as USA and Japan which are on higher latitude, but for region close to the equator, the use of the half-pillar will prevent the counter-weight shaft from colliding with the tripod leg.What the use of the half pillar?

the worm gear is different also, gp is suppose to use the 144 tooth worm gear, the gp-dx uses the 180 tooth worm gear.
the weight of the gp-dx is much much heavier than the gp. better take a look at both before considering. it's easy to transport a gp mount alone with proper carrying case, but gp-dx is alot harder.

Actually, you can use any of the GP-series tripod, such as AL150, HAL110 or the Ash Wood Tripod depend on your load and how stable you want.legs also different, gp mount uses the al 150 tripod. gp-dx uses the hal110, which is more sturdy.
Both GP and GP-DX use the same 144 tooth worm gear, so that the SD-1 and DD-1 Hand Controller can use on both GP and GP-DX mount. The one that had 180 tooth worm gear is the New Atlux mount.the worm gear is different also, gp is suppose to use the 144 tooth worm gear, the gp-dx uses the 180 tooth worm gear.
