Hi guys,
I am having the following setups and need any experienced guys to advise if they are feasible :-
Scope : 8" F/10 SCT + F/6.3 Focal Reducer ....... effective FL ~ 1260mm
Full Moon FOV @ Image Plane ~ 11mm
Setup 1
Canon EOS 750D Prime Focus DSLR, CCD diagonal ~ 26mm
Backyard EOS Software - for Still & Video
This setup should fit the Full Moon disk well right ?
Setup 2
Imaging Source Color CCD DBK41AU02.AS, CCD diagonal ~ 7.5mm
Lucam (Lumera) Recorder Software - for Still & Video
This setup will not enable Full Disk Moon.
Can I add in a 1.25" / 2" 0.5x Focal Reducer ?
I think it still will not enable Full Disk and will also introduce Vignetting ?
Any other solution assuming using same CCD.
Thanks,
Lee

Re: Advise on Full Moon Imaging Setup
Hi Lee,
I have only imaged the moon using a ZWO ASI120. In my 66mm f5.9 refractor, I needed a 0.7x reducer to get the whole moon into view. So I don't think a 0.5x reducer would work for your C8. In any case, a 0.5x reducer is not recommended due to severe vignetting. A DSLR should give you a wider view, but not sure if the full moon disc could fit it. My suggestion is to do afocal photography. The moon will fit within the field of view of a 25mm eyepiece.

Hi Lee,
I ran it through a FOV calculator @ http://www.12dstring.me.uk/fovcalc.php
This is what I got:
Setup 1
Setup 2:
Hope this is not too late...

Hi Alfred,
With a 0.63 Focal Reducer a full image of the moon should be within the FOV right ?

Yes Lee. That should do it for the case with the DSLR camera.
Best.
