Hi Singastro members

For the 22-inch dob at MBS on 18 Feb 2017 evening, I am requesting for several volunteers to assist with this telescope.

I can transport, set up & disassemble this 22 inch scope alone.

However, we need volunteers to aim & focus the scope for the public, and this involves each volunteer going up 2-3 steps on the ladder for about 30mins each volunteer, during the period from 7.30pm to 10.30pm on 18 Feb 2017. Of course volunteers can also help to answer questions from the public etc.

We need volunteers as I am not fond of doing step aerobics for 3 hours by myself; the last time I did that at the ECP event was too exhausting :)

Please post respond here or via PM to me.

Thank you folks.

Hi Remus,
Any admin instructions for the telescope volunteers? Or just free and easy? :)

So far, we have two volunteers - thank you! However we need another 4-6 volunteers please.

Dob Volunteer need to do only these few simple task :
(i) go up 3 steps on ladder,
(ii) aim the Telrad at Orion Nebula, etc
(iii) check and adjust focus on Feathertouch,
(iv) get down ladder.

Dob Volunteers get the opportunity and privilege to "play" with the 22-inch dob and and get free rein to aim at any other celestial objects as they desire. Volunteers will have at their disposal the use of eyepeices like Leitz 30mm, Ethos 17mm, Doctor 12.5mm and Leica ASPH Zoom. If you can aim a scope at Orion Nebula, you qualify for this simple task. Not much effort to move the scope for aiming.

Others who wish to help out but not climb the ladder, can help to answer questions from the public and keep an eye on stuff like eyepieces.

Please post here or PM me if you have any question or wish to volunteer.

Thank you.

Sorry to flake out at this juncture but turns out I can't get anyone to watch my kids tonight so I can't bring my scopes. Honestly, though, given the collection I don't think you'll miss my tiny scopes! See you all later!
