A Newbie's Shameless Adventures in Imaging

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

A Newbie's Shameless Adventures in Imaging

Post by chancy_sg »

Would like to share some of my recent attempts at imaging...please see link as I dont know how to post the pics here in decent resolution...

Shameless...no cooled camera used yet, so lots of noise...but gotta start somewhere I guess.

Added Hamburger Galaxy, taken with the Mewlon and the ASI1600MM cooled - my first RGB attempt... 95% of original framing. Mono only as conditions were too windy to get decent sets of colours.

M51 added to the collection. Same setup as the Hamburger. Hope to add more galaxies soon!

Added 3 images from a recent trip down south to the flickr site. All wide field with 135mm Samyang, SWAT350 and stock Canon 5DS. Carina region, Rho complex and Coal Sack.

Just a note on the Samyang 135mm F2 - it is an amazing lens for the money, stars are round all the way to the extreme corners on the 50MP 5DS no less.
Flatfield, minimal CA and coma. Ideal for widefield AP!

That's very nice and well taken Clinton...maybe you may want to start a Messier collection? :)
