No neccessarily... Actually as long as an object does not have mass, it can reach the light of speed or beyond, so light is not only the only thing that can reach c. For example, the expansion of the universe during the inflation period caused the universe to expand much faster than c. This is possible as the universe as a whole is massless.
hey man, the bible says god is light but you can't interpret it literally.
if the bible were so easy to interpret there wouldn't be so many contraversies and versions of the bible each with its own interpretation around
and please, if you want to find a scientific answer and relate to a religious subject, you'd be better off not searching for it

How can an object exist without having any mass ? according to e=mc^2, you'll need infinite mass and infinite energy to travel at c. If the universe were to be massless , then how can it travel at c since energy would be 0 when u sub m=0 into the equation ?
cheers,

During the inflation period, or rather the extreme expansion period, indeed the universe is expanding at a rate very much faster than the speed of light. A wrong concept might make one think how this is possible (since Einstein discover his theory). You would want to think that the item that is expanding is the empty space within the universe itself, and not the particles flying away from each other at faster than the speed of light. Since, Einstein theory refers to only objects with mass, this might be possible for empty space to expand.
And... photons aren't massless
