New Meade Ritchey-Chrétien

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Hi Arief, I think prices include fork mount as a system, as the same goes with their LX200.
Was refering to the other RCs. I think RCOS sells their 10" OTA for $13k while Meade is selling 10" complete system for $5k.
Btw, I think RC is optimized for DSO imaging only because of the large central obstruction. 6" APO or 10" MN is still better for lunar and planetary.

Hi,
If you take a look at other RC telescope, you'll find one main different between Meade RC telescope and most other RC telescope.... most other RC telescope don't have a corrector plate. According to Meade, the corrector plate is use to minimizes the astigmatism inherent in the traditional RC design. Any comments on this??
:k-?:

Anyway, looking at the advertisement, Meade emphasis on the mechanical and electronics, but not much is said about the optics quality... I wonder how good their hyperbolic mirrors are??
:k-?:

Have a nice day.

I am just waiting for an influx of new customers running to Meade customer service again

Not that I am pessimist or waht...but the first few batches of Meade stuff have always been plagued by problems.

Hi,
Find some interesting "feature" in the advertisement:
It is achieved by using three encoder controlled motors to precisely move the corrector lens and secondary mirror together.
Quite interesting to see the corrector plate moving up and down while focusing...

Anyway, I think this scope will be a true energy vampire... everything need power... a true no power no star scope!!!
:k-evil:

Have a nice day.

statement products like this should not give much problems la. they don't design this to sell in quantity, but rather to tell the world that they can make a gd scope.
