Alright, this is for sharing of your observation experience. Or, if you are arranging gatherings, star-gazing expeditions or just want some company to go observing together, you can shout it out here.
id truly like to go....
but i dont have a car....
just scope, a camera and tent.
i'd be willing to:
- drive (dun have local license or drivers insurance )
- contribute gas money
- provide kopi-o
or we could just rent a bus/van
If Matthew and me take only one car ,there will be only space for one additional passenger with a small scope.as both of us have lot of stuff. If we take both our cars each car can take two additional passengers.
We normally go on Fridays 1400 hrs and return back from Mersing by 0500 hrs on Saturday or Sunday depending on sky condition. If we stay back we check in a Hotel .
As per my experience during last year, the success rate for getting a clear sky is not more than 40 %.
Would love to go up if there is an opportunity. Problem is I drive but my ride is a van and there seems to be some restriction on commercial vehicles going up else I could most probably load everybody's equipment and free up seats for more passengers
what kind of restrictions on vans going up to malaysia? cos it would be really good, since seems like quite a number interested to go.. since danny has suggested during the mar hols, perhaps we could set the trip for 11-12-13 mar or 12-13-14 mar? it's the weekend closer to new moon..
Heya, TUcker here. hopefully someone rememebers me.
Making your way via coach to mersing is pretty easy. done that a couple of times. of coz transporting scope that way is a problem
a broad outline goes like this :
Wake up early & catch the 9am bus to Mersing from Larkin terminal
(subjected to availability!)
You'll probably reach Mersing town in 2 hrs plus
Take ya time, grab a cab down when you're ready.
Your DESTINATION can be anywhere, but if you're heading for the regular observation site, the chalet name is TELOK SARI MUAR.
Make arrangments with the cabbie for the return trip.
You can get e return bus ticket if you like but they'll probably tell you that there's a lot of seats so you can buy the next day (or which ever day you're going back)
I've got the name of the chalet if you need, but there seems to be another chalet nearer to the regular observation site.
going back takes longer somehow. so you;ll probably reach singapore (if there's no jam) in about 4 hr plus from mersing town.
timing subject to changes, mind you.
I'll usually make my way up over the weekends if the regulars are having observation there.
