anguswholesale wrote:hello good morning,

I dont own shops but I do supply to some of my friends in the bino and telescope industry. it may be possible that they have shops there.

sorry because Im still new in this forum, is there specific place which i can refer to also to enhance my knowledge about scopes?

My exisitng knowledge is only good enough for wholesale but not for professional explanation unlike all of you. one great advantage that i have is that my my friend owns a bushnell oem plant in china which he also manufactuers many other oem sets.

thank you and good day.
hi angus,
do read up on the FAQ found under the FAQ section of this forum. It gives you a rough guide as to how to choose a good scope. There is some bias against China-made scopes attributed to the original author's inclination which may not be true now considering that the quality is improving very quickly but overall its a good read.

You can also buy this great book "The Backyard Astronomer's Guide" by Dickinson and Dyers. its an excellent book detailing almost every aspect of astronomy from scopes to accessories to astrophotography. The later editions are in full colour...price is not
cheap though. slightly under $100 the last time I checked!

btw, one of the best tell tale sign of a department store scope like Toys-R-Us is overstating the specs (eg x560, x450!) ! . As Kayheem has mentioned, the typical performance of standard optics is 2 x aperture in mm. For an 80mm scope, that would make it around x160. That is assuming good seeing and good optics. I would put the practical max mag at more like x130.

cheers

thank you for all the input guys.

yes, i believe so china scopes are still despise.however, i have to take my words back when i see my fren factory churing out: simmons, bushnell tasco and some maksutov cassegrain.

my frens advised me to bring back the ultra high ends one but it will really depend on which personality you assume.

if im a hardcore astronomy fan, i will bring back those maksutovs. however, from a wholesaler point of view, haha...i guess cash is a major problem. china works in wholesale lots of at least 200 to 300pcs so having 100pcs from my fren's allowance is already a previlage.

i have tot abt the high end models but the shipping is too expensive and singapore simply dont have such market. i have sold a few sets of maksutov on ebay you can check out the id "taximarket" but the demand is not there and i will be just waiting to get myelf killed in the cashflow problem. i have worked out those high end maksutov sets, they need an outlay of at least a 6 figure sum!

well, i used to be a very active member from togoparts, just like anyone here at Singastro. certains things, i have said but i got flamed unfortunately, bec some more members simply dont believe in me. :x

probably, what i can do for you guys, is to compile orders. you can just email me the pictures of the scopes you want.

Im gald to be a member of this forum and in fact i have always wanted to start one (but it will be on antiques as that is my core business in china)but i simply lack the time and most importantly, the lack of intelligence and due dilligence unlike the adminstrators of Singastro.

thank you guys for addressing my concerns.if i dont reply, it does not mean that im ignoring you all or whatsoever.its just bec, i will be overseas every now and then.

as for the scope that im having, it its full metallic and triod is 6061 aluminium.in fact, i was not expecting anything from this forum, because afterall, i have a long way to go.

just email me anguswholesalegmail.com anytime if you need anything.i will be gald to be of assitance.

peace
angus

Well, when i first saw Bushnell, it was displayed with another 'scope called Mysterious. and it was in a night market going for HK$358 so i thought it was just another high priced department store scope. and the origin is probably mysterious too :p
