Alright, this is for sharing of your observation experience. Or, if you are arranging gatherings, star-gazing expeditions or just want some company to go observing together, you can shout it out here.
sigh....as I predicted with David, after 2 nights of clouds (Friday and Sat) now the sky is very clear...always on a working night....
I can see Auriga and Pegasus and even the 2 stars of gemini. If only this had been Sat night....
Yes... tonight (or monday morning) is actually very clear. From my kitchen window, I can see Canis Majoris and base on my computer software, I estimate the dimmest star that I can see was at least mag 3.87 (confirm) and quite a number of fainter stars using avert vision... this is all done with my kitchen light on... :o :o :o Should be a very good night for observation... Too bad it a Sunday...
Anyway, hope next Saturday night will be as good as tonight when my scope arrive (hope so)... =P =P =P
Have a nice day.

Last night Mars was superbright, and with 9mm ortho EP and Mewlon 210 ( pushing 275x ), it was one of the best view i had, as high power ortho will dim as well. Was able to see a clear black occulation ( like a star-fish shape ) on mars, did not notice any bright spot ( sand storm) on surface.
Hi Rlow, david lian and Luiming, how were your new mewlons perfomings?
Was up till 2 am looking at Mars. Beautiful. Mars was so bright I almost had to use a filter to cut down the glare! When looking at the moon, I will use the filter. Can Mars get too bright on a 8' SCT?

If its an 8' SCT, you might need a solar filter. If its 8", should be ok. =P
We do it in the dark...
Portaball 12.5"
Takahashi Mewlon 210
William Optics 110ED
...and all night long!
Missed the clear skies again! Argghh! Hopefully this week will be clear too when I am back!
Cheers!

Just collimated it last night, it took me 2 hours. But the reward is great, for a night landscape view of some high contrast objects, I can push the power to more than 50 X per inch without losing image sharpness. I am sure next time if I need recollimation, I can do it within 20 mins.
