Sure ... and some coffee too ... =)
Setup tripod at Gavin's for a quick look before some clouds and aurora(Gavin's description) came to disturb out night.
Anyway, did a quick hand held comparison downstairs after I got back from Gavin's .... M41 was resolvable while just a hazy spot with my 12x50s and not detectable with 7x35s. =)
For Orion and Canis Major (and most other constellations I suspect) though, I think I prefer 12x50 for it's wider field ... just to check out the different stars and their relations ...
M42/43 was a different story , view was of course better with the 20x80 and much more nebulosity could be seen against a much blacker sky. Having said that, the brighter sky and wider field of the 12x50 makes the region around M42 look better if you're looking more for beauty, like a bright area of diamonds sparkling ... if you get what I mean.
The 20x80s are definitely a great complement to what I already have and I'm looking forward to it's next night out! =)
Just a short review for 20mins worth of viewing. =)

Hi,
Just a little update regarding the binos - sorry if I'm over posting, but I'm just very excited about my new toy ...
Below is what "Mr Oberwerk" told me regarding the bins when I asked if someone could identify it in the CN forums.
That's a one-of-a-kind prototype of what is now the 20x80 Standard. It's a few years old. We had a 20x80 and a 30x80 in that style (just one of each).

Pretty cool to hear I got a one off bino. I'll definitely take care of it ....
