Jupiter through a well collimated SCT

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Hi,
Hay, great pictures Jeremy & CheeYiun. Whish I could joint the business end of photography like you guy soon. Lot of inertia though; time, money, and procastination.
Planetary imaging is actually not difficult and also not expensive. The requirement is actually quite low... basically anyone with a digital camera (compact digital camera with correct adapter, webcam with adapter and computer or DSLR) and a telescope can do it... Just capture a lots of image and leave the rest to the processing software.

Have a nice day.

Hi catalysm, like weixing says, it really quite cheap.

All you needed is a camera, which is below a hundred, ( cheap cheap like my acuter ( $50 ) is still alright ), and a simple laptop oy a nearby desktop.

Your mewlon 210 will compensate for the inadequate camera ( just like my setup ).

i did not have tracking motors, i just like jupiter drift in and out of the screen view and collected 100 jpegs as the mewlon collects wonderful planetary views.

Breaks .AVI file into individual .bmp Pics.

Use free registax to process by stacking.

try it, you will enjoy.

Oh, you forget - now I also 'rent' the Digital Sky Survey! Heh...

Hi cheeyiun, how do you break up the AVI file into BMP pics? I just use the entire AVI file with Registax to stack into one JPEG.

Thanks.

I still think the temperate belts should be on the brownish side instead of green, as i see it on flt-110.

I think on the flt-110 it is indeed more brown, however, on the mewlon it is less contrasty as it is one huge light bucket.

Really appreciate the mewlon and the flt-110, both have it strengths and also weaknessess. Would like to join it up with a heavy duty mount with slow motion gears...

hi river, i like your tutorial link and also John 3-16 :D
