My suggestion is also that you save up and buy a better scope first. Unless it's a very good diy scope, there's no real need to buy so good eyepieces. I have a decent 5" Maksutov and i'm still using basic eyepieces, nothing fanciful, and yet i can see very nice views!
Buying of objective lenses... you want to make your own better scope? I think it's easier to just buy.. Also i wouldn't recommend refractors as a first scope. Too expensive for the aperture. A good 80mm refractor would cost more than my 5" Mak.

Stargazing ... is an excuse to stay up past bedtime that never fails!
The UO ortho and the circle-T orthos are basically the same, from Japan. The drawback of the short-focal length orthos are the short eye-relief and narrower field of view, otherwise they are excellent for planetary observation, especially if you are using a tracking mount. If you like, I have some that you can test it out on your scope.i see ... but which brand of orthoscopic ?
