It will be really nice to meet you all in Kluang. By the way, I don't have any information regarding the dark sites in Johor. I usually do my observing in the garden, so the neighbours' lamps do actually affect me but I have to live with it. May be the lights around my house is a bit strong, I haven't seen the milky way with my eyes, neither with my telescope. These days, the unwelcomed rains and hazes made me so unhappy. :(

There is a shopping centre named Kluang Parade, the developing is almost done. They use bright xenon lights. Are they related with heavy light "polluters"?

By the way, I need a clear defination of dark site. Is a dark site totally dark without any point of light but just the pinpoint stars and planets?

I guess there's no real specific definition to what a dark site is. As long as you can see what you want to see, i think it means the place is dark enough! :D

To me, any light around is light pollution, be it xenon lights or whatnot. If your house has a backyard that uses your house to "block" the shopping centre lights, well that could be a solution too, provided the place you choose still allows you to see what you want..
Stargazing ... is an excuse to stay up past bedtime that never fails!

As long as you can see the Milky Way clearly, I think it can be consider as a dark site... :P

My home is actually free from those shopping centre's light as I live in a housing estate which is quite well protected but the trees around are being cut down for new housing estate. :( The only light pollution to me is my neighbours' lamps and the sodium road lamps. (There is one broken but it is my neighbour's, I wish the one in front of my house will be broken down soon.)

Do you notice that the sky in Singapore is now filled with heavy clouds?
Clear skies,
Robin.
