Focus on planets and moon while building the 15"
Yes, that's a great 'objective' (in both sense) that will maximise the potential of the CZ mirror! Carl is happy to make us a good one since we are co-sharing! :)

?? So if you all not sharing he wouldn't have made such a good mirror? Good thing Liuming's friend didn't buy from you .. HAHAHA ..

Jeremy, allow me to clarify: I believe Carl always makes GREAT mirrors. He had expressed that he is HAPPY to work on this 'special' mirror that we are co-sharing. :D

Here is an excerpt of Carl's email, quoted with his kind permission:

"I like the atmosphere of community in your country. Outside of an astronomy club, folks don't normally share in such a project. Sole ownership seems to be more important here. Well this will be a very special mirror then, because it will belong to several people. I'm really going to enjoy doing it."

He must be a very unhappy man the rest of the time then when making mirrors for sole owners .. :) Hee hee ..

OK ... I'm gonna stop my nonsense here. All the best with your new scope(s) ... :)

Oh...btw, how is your new 30mm supergiant heavyweight eyepiece? You will need to rebalance your OTA....hmm, I got a special counterweight that can screw on the front of your C8, I can let you have it, if you like. :)

How did you know?? I thought I kept it a secret when I bought the GSO 30SV ..

Actually, I'm not very happy ... no chance to use my new EPs and scope at all. The only chance I had was 2 nights ago on the full moon for 30mins before it clouded out again .. argh ..

Anyway, bout the CW, how heavy is it? it screws onto the existing holes of the C8? Even with the full length dovetail in place? And most impt, how much is it?? :)

Hey buddy, you had probably forgotten that you sms me earlier asking my opinion whether is it worthwhile to buy a 30xw.... :)

About the counterweight, it is a nice DIY stuff I did some time back. It does screw into the existing C8 holes, though I am not sure if it will fit in with your dovetail. If it fits and balances on your setup, you can have it FoC. :)
