wow...what camera you using?
I have the same exact setup and camera as Euwen except he has a 5" ETX-125 and I have the 4" ETX-105. But I had to take up to 30 s in order to see something and I don't see the nebula at all...only some star streaks...
how do you guys do it?? I am using a 15mm and 40mm eyepiece on my scopetronics adapter...

I'm using a Nikon CoolPix 4500 with William-Optics 4337 40mm Eyepiece adapter at 1x Optical Zoom. The setting details as follows:
METERING : SPOT
MODE : M
SHUTTER : 8.00sec
APERTURE : F2.6
EXP +/- : 0.0
FOCAL LENGTH : f7.9mm(X1.0)
IMG ADJUST : STANDARD
SENSITIVITY : ISO400
WHITEBAL : SUNNY
SHARPNESS : OFF
SATURATION : 0

Hope some of you with a better mount can get a better image than me. Have a nice day.

Hi all,
Thanks to Sam (the "Lee") for pointing out that M49 is actually an elliptical galaxy which means I can't possibly have seen it on a 4" Mak in Singapore.
At the time, I was just scrolling up the numbers (M41, M42, etc) so when I saw a cluster of stars, I assumed it was an open cluster....so looks like one item out!

Interesting....my Nikon 4300 could not pick out anything at 8 seconds. Maybe it was also because I am unable to see the image to be taken. Did you manage to see anything on the LCD prior to taking?

Yes, I can see a few brighter star in the Nebulae on the LCD.
