yes Jeff, we used it to see Jupiter many years ago with that Traveller, i think, in one of the malaysian sites. it was a sight to behold for a 4-inch performer. Another Traveller seen in the States, also performed likewise. But having seen many years pass, the other manufacturers are catching up real fast, so much so that the initial affinity for AP stuff, was (sadly) waned. Perhaps an RC would kick some butt now, if ya know what i mean....

An RC (as good as it is) is much better for AP then visual. They are usually designed with a large CO (at least the RCOS ones are) for a very flat field that will cover the large CCDs used these days. But what you lose in contrast, you make up for it in light gathering aperture.

hi Vincent,

yes, was thinking along the lines of imaging, as always. any thoughts on the new RCAs from Star Instruments? prices seem to have gone down quite a bit, though pyrex is now used.

Bro, why not try to ATM your next astrograph? A set of true 10" RC optical set cost $1.5K only from Star Instrument: http://www.star-instruments.com/astrograph.html

There hasn't been much action on the new RCA as of yet. The first scopes are being delivered so we should see some images soon. I don't think there is much difference between using Pyrex or Schott glass for mirrors, just have to watch for cool down times.

Hmm.. is that complete system?
