Really? I was just thinking why the XWs cost so much and how Pentax must be laughing all the way to the bank. Anyway, those who know how to get Pentax cheaper should share the secret with the rest of us. How much does it cost to get an XW from Japan and from where? A brand new T6 costs about S$440 excluding shipping. Anyway hor, is the field curvature of some of the XWs as bad as it is made out to be on cloudynights? I am not a fan of the XW due to the "narrow" fov...
For a 40mm ep, the Burgess Paragon might be worth considering if one doesn't like panoptics..

We do it in the dark...

If one gets the XW the 'normal' way through a distributor, the XW will cost more than the Nagler T6. They are in the S$500 range. Of course if you have the means of going to Japan to get it or getting it second hand, it will be cheaper. I have checked the price of it online (Japanese stall), it cost S$400 for the XW. Are there sale prices that make them less than S$400? I think for most people who got it the normal way, the XW is not so great deal. The Americans pay to their teeth buying the XWs.. haa.
Anyway, I have seen the Nagler FC curves (from the Patent published), it is rather flat. If one sees FC on a scope with a Nagler, it is most probably the scope contributing the FC. On a flat field scope (let say TV NP101), I am sure the stars will be sharp to the edge and the field very flat with a Nagler eyepiece.

1.25" Pentax XW costs about S$350 in Japan or by home delivery
In Asia, Pentax is much cheaper than Nagler.

Thanks to a very kind soul who helped me to get some 'Peanuts' direct from Japan. Here's a comparison between 'Peanuts' and 'TV equivalents' of similar focal lengths:
Pentax 7XW = SGD350 Japan sale price + fren's free delivery
TV 7Nagler T6 = SGD444 + shipping + GST
Pentax 30XW = SGD507 Japan sale price + fren's free delivery
TV 30Nagler T5 = SGD979 + shipping + GST
Even just comparing prices alone, I could have live without the extra 12 deg AFOV.
The 20mm eye-relief, great SMC coating giving high contrast & high transmission, minimal aberrations and water-resistant built quality are great bonus!
Of course the TV naglers are great too, its just that I can't afford to own a set of Pentax and also some dear Naglers!
