I was quite impressed by Jin Peng's 5" super fast achro refractor. Color was very well controlled even at such short focal length.Clifford60 wrote:Thanks Jin Peng for the afford and the drink.
Number of big guns there and a lot of new faces, especially from the school and some Singastroian that I met for the 1st time.
At around 10pm~11pm, the night sky was very good to us, a lot of objects to see. Wow, Omega Centauri at 200+x in S'pore sky, thanks to Remus and Kelvin.
Not to mentioned the nice chat after the ob (Remus, Kelvin, Zong & I) and thanks Kelvin for the prata and tea.
LYRIDS STAR PARTY 2008
Skies were great last night. Definitely better in terms of transparency than the last gathering. Seeing was not too bad too as the night progressed. A little more moisture in the air as usual, and we could see lots of southern DSOs in particular at this time of the year. Thanks to Kelvin for the lift, and the enjoyable supper experience. It was nice to have a break finally from work madness throughout the past two weeks. It was also good to see a couple of new subscribers on site, and Vincent Snr, after about 5 years??Looking as fit as ever! Perhaps we could have such sessions there again on a more regular basis, maybe once a month or two! Cheers!

Hi everyone, thanks for coming to support Lyrids Star Party 2008. Is difficult to hold the star party on the peak of Lyrids (21-22 apr) this year due to the bright moonlight. And since we hold it annually, shall continue the "tradition" to hold it again for 2008 in april!
Lyrids produce fairly fast meteors with a reputation for being faint on average. Most of the students manage to catch some sights of meteors.
Stay tuned for the next star party. Will not be somewhere this month...
Is time for a break XD
