please though if you're getting a 10x 50 binos get a bino tripod as well, or you'll be crying at your money getting wasted. With such a high magnification the hand shake would be...... magnified as well. Yes. And it is certainly heavier which adds to the shake. Unless you've got big strong arms, I would suggest a wide filed 8x 40. Since getting higher magnification for a binoculars is still nowhere near high magnification of a scope.

Hi zackae, yeah I'll most likely be getting a 8x40 binocs once I have enough money. I'm going for handheld with binos. Any good recommendations? I'll probably be buying after the 5th July NUS ob session. Budget is around 200$ or abit higher. I'm trying to get this one and only bino and that's it, until I have enough for a scope. So, I'm looking for the best around my budget.

lol, well I bought mine recently this year at Cathay Photoshop at marina square at $249. It's waterproof, multi-coated (As seen from the greenish reflection) and with a rubber grip. It is the nikon action EX series. I think it's a really good bino. well if you wanna save, get the nikon action series 8x40 which is water resistant and it costs like $100 cheaper. lol.

Hey zackae, I might go get yours but I've actually checked out a bino from McGill Commercial House here and I'm looking for someone who can compare it with yours and make a judgement whether if it's better and worth the price. Or else, I'll most likely be getting the same binos as yours. Anyway, I'll be going to the ob session later on so I'll get to look through other's binocs and telescopes to determine on what I should be getting. (:

With you being in a city I would take the advise of the fine people above. Go to the star parties view for free, ask the hows and whys of each instrument thats is a great way to get started. Then you can make a informed selection when you buy your telescope.
