Hi

The manfrotto 410 is a geared head that allows for smooth slow motion tracking at high magnifications.

The manfrotto setup will set you back $300+ (head ~200 + tripod ~100). You can search the forums for more information.

If you don't want the slow motion controls, you can go for a sturdily built ordinary photo tripod, which is what I use. :)

Cheers,
Chris

Excellent ideas. Any advice where I can get the above head & tripod? What is the price?

Thanks
Hi
The most popular place to buy it is at Cathay Photo at Peninsula Plaza.
The prices fluctuate somewhat from batch to batch but average price is as follows : 410 head = $210. 190 Tripod = $110
The tripod is easily available but the 410 head's availability is unpredictable. I suggest you call before going.

Another tip from Samuel Ng...if you go to their website
www.cathayphoto.com.sg and ask for an i-quotation, the price is sometimes slightly lower than at default shop price!
