but isn't it supposedly yellow in colour?

Correct. If you take a picture of venus using visible light colour range and in a "well" balanced manner, it should be whitsh yellow.

But taking a picture of venus in visible light range shows no features at all. So pictures of venus is usually taken in UV or IR.
