Does not take much effort actually. Take the scope out, connect the power and autostar controller, move it about, no need to align to a star lah....
I know..although it doesn't sound like a lot of work, it actually is. Opening up the box and repacking it is really quite a lot of work especially for the 8" and above. Imagine asking him to open a 10 or 12" LX200! Or ask him to assemble a LXD75 mount. It's quite some work. The smaller scopes, of course is easy. That's why even good people like OPT charge a a fee for this service of testing.

If the "overseas guy" is willing to test it, then I believe it's out of goodwill. But if he does not, then we also need to understand his situation and be fair to him. Don't forget that he is selling it to us already based on goodwill! He is not suppose to even do that!

As long he doesn't cheat our money or slow in delivery, I think that's the most we can expect from an overseas vendor. Anything else is really based on luck and should not form as an obligation from them.

I know the Guy mentioned in the posting of Rich ,whose LX-90 will not even move when purchased. But this was no way a fault of "the overseas vendor". Just bad luck . In fact , "the overseas vendor" helped as best as they can in overcoming this inherent defect (a defective PCB) and bringing the story to a happy end.

Hi Kochu
thanks for the clarification...as i must emphasise, the guy is not out to cheat...just a little lacking in the customer support... this is not an issue if the item received works perfectly, only when you have problems.
In my case, I had to solve mine myself....irked me a little but with the etx now working perfectly, I'm no longer that sore...just more cautious in my recommendations..
