fizzy,
I recently camped over at Changi Beach(the CP7 end just beside the Changi ferry term). They turned off the running track lights at that end and the only local light pollution were from the shelters, hence rather dark. There were a number of trees though, but its possible to find an open space(just tt I didnt choose to). I regreted I didnt bring along a scope, but the skies were great.

ok... sorry for the late reply as I was caught up with some official matters. So for this coming evening, I was thinking of conducting it at changi beach park as going to Ubin maybe a little risky as I don't have tents thus, eventhough it had not been raining for days, better not go to be on a safer side.

So say we have it at the beach around CP4 of changi beach? Bus no. 19 (tampines bus station), 9 (Bedok bus station), 89(Hougang central bus station)Anyone interested? Bring along groundsheet and some makan stuff. Perhaps we can meet up before going.
