Yes, it is. It's -5 deg C including the wind chill factor. We started at the base with a tropical temperature of 25 deg C, and at the Visitor's Center it was about 10 deg C. That was when the parkas and gloves were handed out (included in the tour package). However, I had trouble operating the camera with those winter gloves so I took it off, and my hands went numb with the cold.

As long as I stayed still, I do not have breathlessness. However, I was running here and there with my camera and tripod and at one stage I almost blacked out! So I had to stop and forced myself to hyperventilate so as not to miss the sunset shots. Heh...
