Which binoculars better ?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Aiyah! I should have tried that out.
After buying my Nikon I was telling myself that no way it can be 10x better than the $22 binos.....

You can still sell yours. It's still in almost brand new condition. :)

I just went to Carrefour Suntec to try out the $49, 7x50 "Grandiose" binoculars.

Well what can I say.. they instantly gave me a headache. I'm extremely sensitive to miscollimation and misalignment of binoculars.

Life's too short for headaches and eye trouble. cloud_cover's Nikons didn't give me headaches. Easy choice.

Of course YMMV.

LOL. Grandheadache brand. Since you are extremely sensitive, good idea to bring some of my binos for your eyes to analyse. :)

hi Gary

back in Philippines I always drooled over the 16x70 Fujinon FMT-SX. but could only afford Celestron 15x70...! which arrived from US mis-collimated! and uneconomic to ship back...!

Now I drool over the Takahashi Astronomer 22x60... which is two FS-60C Fluorite APO's side by side! still cannot afford! hahahaha...

Unless you carefully look through the view, it's not obvious whether a bino is good or bad under sky full of stars especially for beginners... there are just too many stars for the aberration to be seen easily. In Singapore sky, that's another story... [smilie=bad-atmosphere.gif] Try to compare both bino again in Singapore sky.

Anyway, for Singapore use, get a bino with exit pupil around 5mm... larger exit pupil are not that useful in Singapore as the contrast of the image will not be good due to light pollution. Also, try to get one below 10x unless you are sure you can hold a 10x bino steadily.

Happy shopping and good luck.

Have a nice day.

advised to buy good bino like nikon, minolta, olympus. price is around $200. you can see very clear view than those no brand ones. I have 1 magnacraft and minolta, both 10x50, olympus is 7x30. minolta and olympus quality is very sharp and much better than magnacraft. save $$ and buy good quality, you can use many years. I use to collect bino since 2001, bought many binos including china-made unknown brands. I wasted alot $$ (can buy a good german made bino) and gave them to friends when I got good quality binos.

Am planning to place an order for the Nikon 10x50 Action EX from amazon. Would like to seek some last minute views before buying it.

Are there any other models/brands that I should consider? Cos I have been reading that 10x50 is the best balance between weight and views. My budget will be below USD200. Thanks!
