M46 & NGC 2438

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Thanks for the nice words guys! I'm on a cluster hunt and at the same time training myself to identify Open Clusters in our sky! Not easy especially when all you see are probably 2-3 brighter mag stars that belong to the cluster!
I reference with sketches which I have collected online which helps me find and identify these far away ones!

I do have M93 which still needs to be processed. Patiently awaiting Scorpio when it arrives at my window! Cluster heaven!!
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!

Had only an hour to shoot as I spent the hour before this figuring out why PHD wasn't correcting my DEC! Checked all wires, power, motors, balance, re-installed software...almost tore my eyes out! Then realized that when I re-installed EQMOD in early JAN, I did not set the EQMOD GuideRate! After a simple click, I had full Autoguiding again. *Hiyah! Daddy always told me to read the manual before touching things!
Hi Tim,

Great to see nice shots especially during these nights of terrible cloudy, gloomy skies we are having.

BTW, what is your EQMOD guiderate?

Thanks guys!
Yes it's a nice cluster but hard to spot due to it's mag of 6+! Hardly noticeable with averted vision, so the eyes need to be really dark adapted and relaxed.

Yes the clouds clear up occasionally and gotta take any chance available. Advantage of the home pier...hehe.

@Chris
EQMOD's guiderate set at 0.75x together with PHD's RA settings. Prob I had was I didin't set it correctly when re-installed. Forgot to check everything.
