Thanks for all your inputs guys. Really helped alot, especially using the red warning lights as artificial stars. Will try out tonite.

@Gary: I would love to own a refractor due to the easy maintenance, but I am mainly a lunar/planetary person. So the reach+cost+portability ratio is very agreeable with me and my wallet at the moment. But that being said, I will definitely will be getting a small refractor for DSOs and as a travel scope in the near future.

Perhaps you can consider a Maksutov also. Good planetary and lunar performance minus the collimation issue if it is already well collimated from factory. Corrector cooling down issues not much of an issue when observing in Singapore.
