Astro Conference 2011 was a success! Crowd was mainly students, children, and some members of the public. Have created a quick page to contain some pictures of the event. Thanks Jin Peng, and Sam and the rest of the organizers for making this event happen!

The Astro Conference 2011 was a great sucess despite the short time frame available for the planning and publicity. A great variety of scopes are also availbel for viewing, from humble HCI made Dobsonian to portable, grab and go refractors and SCTs to very large aperture Dobs by Rlow. No doubt most of the attendees are school astro club memebers, there were also some members of the public that made their to the star-gazing session at the hockey pitch. The Sky wasnt that clear with lots of thin high altitude clouds and a bright full moon but a reasonable selection of DSO are still made available for viewing. Managed to see NGC6231, M6, M7 and Albireo in cygnus, using Jay's Nexstar 6SE and most firt-timers were thrilled by the sights. Happened to talk to some RP astro ppl and they were also very excited and fascinated after see the star cluster in Scorpious. They were rambling on and on, asking about the telescope power, the creation of star clusters and eyepiece focal lengths. Looks like we have at least 5 "Jin Peng" in the making. Will end off by saying, thank you to the organisers of this event and thank you Jay for the lift and for viewing through your 6SE.
