welcome welcome....

i am a beginner too and i got many books to read, went for a few stargazing sessions with the friendly and helpful astronomers here...

until now i have not even bought my first telescope :)

i am thinking of getting a "powerful" binoculars instead...

just gotten a celestron 15x70 bino...

and got a tripod to hold it...

saw the moon through it... clear and bright.

but somehow i am unable to see clearly the planets...

Hi Jimmy. Congrats on owning two 70mm refractors! :)

Big binos are not designed for high magnification planetary observation. With 15x70, you should easily see Jupiter's moon as pin dots on clear night.

Try your bino on star clusters like Pleiades, Hyades and Double Cluster and you appreciate what your binoculars can really do very well!

Then, bring it to Milky Way skies and sweep the heavens with it! :)
