I now know that the cluster of stars that I saw the other day was the Southern Plaides. And when I looked a little vertically upwards, I saw a small cloud-like 'thingy'. I was using only a pair of binoculars, so I couldn't be sure if that was the open cluster or the Eta Carina nebula.
Any more pictures or stories that you have to share, I'm waiting to hear/see them
Beautifully done Gavin. I wished all imaging reports were like this! But of course I've known all along you have this thing for the Coalsack and all this dark nebula as you kept on looking for them when you were in Mersing..haha.
It also occurred to me that I did see Tucanae 47 in Mersing on my very first time there but did not notice the SMC then...what a wasted opportunity.
