Gary => Haven't been checking the forum for quite a while. Thank you for posting my summer triangle photo! Hopefully with these postings, I have shown that widefield AP is possible in Singapore. I got a lot more to learn to improve the photos.
Dave => I am not the MW expert lah. Just a newbie in AP who is trying to show that MW is possible to be shot in Singapore. I am truly glad to see interest/actual attempts by local AP photographers at shooting the MW in Singapore. Hope to see many more Singapore MW photos from others in future!

Thanks for the inspiration to other widefield APers! Looking forward to coloured mosaic of Milky Way in Singapore!

I could not see any constellations cos I not used to seeing so many stars all together, normally scorpio tale is easy to see cos its far brighter than adjacent stars but not it seems when you composite a load of frames together as is done here. Nice image.
Sunday night was really clear too!

Hi all,
Sorry to invade this thread but
as i had inspirated by Looyaa and his milky way photo and decided to give it a test try.
(Thanks Looyaa for his support!

)
Taken this yesterday night right out side my house at AMK (very light polluted)
and it was only around 40 degrees high or less.

Just a small hint of the milky way in the photo!
light:16X40 Sec
Dark: 5
Bias: 5
Iso: 400
cam: Pentax K30
Lens: Tambon 17-50mm F/2.8 @ 35MM F/5.6
Tracking: Astrotracer
It is worth a try in darker areas in Singapore and esp when it's nearer to zenith!

All thanks to light pollution, that's why we can see only the brighter stars using our eyes. It is interesting to compare what our cameras can see versus what our eyes can see when viewing the photo.
Actually both sat/sun nights were quite clear in some parts of Singapore. If I am not wrong, south & west were clear (of clouds & haze) for quite some time but not my side at Bidadari. Went to try out new locations at thomson & punggol at around 10-ish each day and both places are "plagued" with many patches of clouds. Will continue to try whenever the night sky is clear.

Nice shots Dave! Considering the amount of light pollution and the MW is less than 40 degree at your location, this is good! No worries about posting Singapore MW photos in this thread. Great to see APers attempting the MW shots and sharing it!

Hi Looyaa
Thanks for the compliments!

Awesome shots Dave! For the benefit of our non-local readers, AMK = Ang Mo Kio, ... i.e. in mainland SINGAPORE!!
Cat is out of the bag, it's a Pentax!
