I realised that some people had been waiting for me to say something because I had calls from a few people to tell them my 'opinion' on this. But I had been so busy at work recently that I have not drop by this forum... sorry guys!
Briefly, I would agree with Yang Beng (Canopus) that both are truly excellent premium scopes in terms of optical performance, mechanical performance, design, build quality and ease of setup/use. Within that short observation time under light-polluted skies with mediocre seeing at Demsey on 16 Jun 06, we have seen very similar views of the Moon, Jupiter and some deep sky objects (M4, M6, M7, M8, M22, M57, NGC 6231, Antares' secondary, etc) through both scopes. Both gave excellent star test results.
I did noticed a few very very minor differences in both optical & mechanical performance between the two scopes, however this does not detract from their excellence and high standards achieved. In fact, like the 2 scope owners, I would also be happy to have owned either scopes. To seek out and verify these subtle differences, if any, would probably require more extensive, rigorous and controlled testing & comparisons under optimum sky conditions (good transparency & good seeing), which we would like to do at Mersing. But alas! Both scopes won't be together at Mersing this month; so we would have to wait a bit longer for any conclusive results.
