Thanks for your comments guys. :)
All are single 30sec exposures at ISO 800 or 3200.
White balance set to auto but i made a mistake with the first 2 pics hence the warm colour.
The in-camera D-lighting feature brings out the Milky Way tremendously!

Clifford, can you pm me your email so i can send to you the originals. Thanks!

Did I forget to mention how great the pentax XW eyepieces are??
Brought out a "wow" in me when I peered through the 40mm on the portaball.
The star field literally popped out !

I don't know if you agree, but somehow I don't remember the Televues with bigger FOV giving me the same oomph as the Pentax. Is there a logical basis for my conclusion or maybe I am just biaised?

Its a pity the XW is not available in 1.25" version...

rlow : actually mersing is the only chance I get to use the N8. The goto did work fine the other night but just that I got a little distracted with the CC's 12.5" beside me (that sounded a little indecent! :-) ) and I lost alignment due to my carelessness too many times and too lazy to start up again...
plus without Elton there to read off objects for me to goto, I felt a little lost (Elton, please note!!) heh heh

Hi,
The star field literally popped out !
I think that cause by the field curvature of the eyepiece on a fast scope, but that's actually make the stars more 3D without bino viewer... ha ha ha
Its a pity the XW is not available in 1.25" version...
Only XW30 and XW40 are in 2". The rest (XW3.5, XW5, XW7, XW10, XW14 and XW20) are all in 1.25"... You have no more excuse.... hee hee

Have a nice day.

I don't know which Nagler you looked through but if you are looking through T6s, it is important where you position your eyes. Most likely you never positioned at the 'sweet spot'. Most people say that the FOV is the same mainly because they looked 'too far' from the eyepiece and hence vignetted the FOV. Some people move too near and 'dirty the eyepiece' with eye lashes and come to the conclusion that the eye relief is short! I bet they have not tried 5mm orthos to appreciate short eye relief...To appreciate the 82 degree in T6s, one needs to have more 'viewing time' with it. I use the T6s for 3 years already and I know where is the sweet spot and have no problems in finding it. I also find them comfortable enough for viewing for hours.

If you want to see the difference in FOV easily, look through the T4 Naglers. They have long eye relief and usable with glasses; shouldn't have problem with most people especially those wearing glasses. To me the T4 is the most 'immersive' but of course it will be like a tunnel when compared to the Ethos!. :P

Also another thing is that you are using a low power eyepiece. You will see more stars, and hence it will look more immersive due to more objects in the field.

I think there are so many great photos from every where that will make this year's SingAstroPhoto challenge a really exciting one. :)

Weixiong, I've got questions about D-lighting on another thread.
