8" f/4...coma???

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Hence, for my 11", I find it a necessity to use the TV Paracorr with my eyepieces 20XW, 14XL, 10XW etc for specific DSOs like open and globular clusters etc. Once I have used the Paracorr, I can't live without it. :) The 30XW and 40XW are already well corrected without the Paracorr. Incidentally, the Paracorr helps to 'balance' my shorter focal-length XWs with the 30XW & 40XW. :D

You should not be seeing coma on-axis when you are doing a star test, and measuring coma is not so straightforward as it varies across the field and gets more severe towards the edge of field.

I have look through the R200SS f/4 and the coma is ... well...er... bad, just to put it mildly.
seems like people who wear specs are more sensitive to coma...kekekeke...oops!!

Actually hor, even if you are sensitive to coma, just don't look at the edge will do right?

For both the eyepieces I use, I didn't really notice it. Maybe it's there, but not disturbing/distracting enough to my eyes. Just like some people are very bothered about CA, some do not.

That's probably it, just like some people are not disturbed/affected by pin-cushion distortion or other optical aberrations etc. :)

Hi everybody, I've checked with VinSnr beforehand, and found that he informed the security guards before going into the Turf City ground for this scope test.

When we approached the Turf City management, they agreed to let us use their ground, and their request was to inform the management office before using. As the office is open 24hrs everyday, we can go to the office even if it is a last minute decision. So although Vin did inform the security guards, it would be better to also inform the office your presence at the office before using their grounds. This is just a reminder, not a flame! We have just started out using Turf City and do not wish to jeopardise this relationship by taking shortcuts.

Just for information, Turf City's management office number is: 64688333, to look for Ms Mana.
Stargazing ... is an excuse to stay up past bedtime that never fails!
