when you were fixing the enterprise-e, what was the led in the kit?? i find that the bussard were yellowish red, were the led on the bussard yellow ? IMHO, a red led or white would make it look nicer, not necessary to use the super bright types if you are planning to.

There's no LED actually, just 4 filament bulbs used. There's one bulb behind each bussard which is a clear red plastic.
The illumination is cleverly derived from a series of clear plastics that acted like optical fibre and transmitting the light to all areas. The front deflector is yellow though instead of the traditional blue.

Did you manage to find the Enterprise E at Morgan Hobby? They're quite expensive but they stock an amazing range of stuff...

since you say there are bulbs, that would explain the yellowish tinge behind the red cover at the bussard. i personally think that a red or white LED would make it look more realistic and accurate, if that area can be modded that is.

I am not particular about it. Its beautiful and that's all that matters. I dug up my Nemesis DVD and watched it again...to see the E in its full glory...heh heh
