WO also import 102 ED scopes!

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

C'mon anat, you can't be interested in the $1000 scopes, you should go for the SV115.

But I'd like to know why you think the lenses all come from the same place. Just curious as all the arguements have been hashed and rehashed so no point saying the obvious again. But you must have some reason to discount the available information to come up with your own conclusion.

Well, don't you think the timing of all of them at the same time a bit too coincident if their lenses are not from the same place?

Furthermore, their price point is about the same. A bit too coincident assuming the lens is the most expensive item in the whole scope.

BTW, the WO scope and the package is a steal. The carbon fiber dielectric cost 168, the zoom 2 eyepiece cost 268 and let's say the rings and dovetail is 100. That's 536 already. The scope cost only 464?????

Actually, they did not all come out at the same time. SV has been delivering scopes for a few months now. The other companies are only starting to get theirs out. Price point is also slightly different as evidenced by WO being able to package all those accessories with it. Maybe they copied SV? I'm quite sure the lens is Chinese, don't know if it is polished in China or Taiwan or in house. But maybe the company that does it for SV decided to sell a similar telescope to everyone else? Notice the slightly different focal length!?! If they had to change the focal length, what else did they have to change? Maybe nothing, maybe everything else (coating? actual lens design?)?

I know SV uses their own lens cell, rotating back and focuser. But tube and dew shield maybe the same manufacturer.

But buy what you want. Which ever you think is the best bang for YOUR dollar is which ever telescope you should buy because that is the one you will be most satisfied with and will get you out most.

Hi,
Hmm... Anyway, as long as they don't compromise design, specification and quality control, it doesn't matter whether it is "made in china" or "made in usa"... the result will be good product.

If the company just want their manufacturer to produce the product will the lowest cost, the result will still be "rubbish" even it is "made in usa".

Have a nice day.
