goodness...that was a very boring show. the older 50s version was corny but at least it has a punchy tune.raychan wrote:Apparently, they are showing the new series of Flash Gordon now....
As for Buck Rogers, were you talking about the Gil Gerard-Erin Gray one?
You should read up on wiki on this...alot of interesting facts.
The original BSG was quite good (for that period) and I like the more cheerful mood of the show as compared with the forever gloomy mood of the new one.

For trekkies, Star Wreck is coming to Singapore!
http://www.dmfest.com/2008/programme/screening.php
ok...not specifically a Star Trek event but they will show the movie and the creators will be talking about it. Do check it out. Star Trek V is a parody of Star Trek First Contact. Its the previous release. In this release, Zefhrame Cochrane is the rock band star whose music attracted the "Vulgars" .(Vulcan)
The following one Star Trek VI, In the Pirkining is a parody on Star Trek and Babylon 5 using very professional animation. Its funny too! Do download and watch it. I showed it to Elton during the Astro2008 and he was laughing all through the short segment. If you are trekkie, its even funnier because you identify with the lingo :
photon torpedo = light ball
warp power = twist power
phasers = twinklers
Worf=dwarf
Data = Info
You can download the movie (its free for all!) or watch it online.
If Free is not good enough, you can buy the DVD here...and find out more of the movie trivia too.

As you can see from the "VI", Star Wreck is the 6th release. 3 earlier ones were full animation while the 4th one was live action but of much lower animation quality (restricted by technology at the time). Unfortunately they will be showing this one at the event. The complete list of the older movies are here :

In the meantime, we are patiently awaiting Star Trek XI slated for release in second half of 2009 with a young Spock played by "Sylar/Gabriel" from Heroes.
Trivia : The very first Space Shuttle was not Columbia. Its a full scale functional prototype used to to test designs but not space worthy enough for orbital flights. A petition was made by ST fans to name it "Enterprise" and it was approved by NASA. Enterprise is still around today.

New Trailer for Star Trek 10 is out!
The first part with the car chase and boy dangling makes use of computer graphics instead of live action...is that JJ Abrams' way of saving cost?
Again I mention the flaw...The USS Enterprise was made in Utopia Yards in space dock in space, yet for this version, it is built right here on Earth instead...mmm

Looks good !
but its abit weird, having the original enterprise built on Earth. How are they gonna tow it into space ?? Obviously its not gonna just power up and lift-off, its not designed to do that kind of maneuvers.
That 'Sylar' looks perfect for the Spock role..
